Our History
Cornerstone Church had its beginnings in November 1986 in an
old dilapidated building on the north side of Salisbury with twelve people in
attendance. After 18 months of tremendous growth, the congregation moved into
rented facilities in a three-story storefront in Downtown Salisbury.
After several financial miracles, in June 1996 the church purchased a building
and property valuing 2.3 million on Webb Road. In the past ten years, the
22,000 sq ft building has been remodeled into a leading edge facility. The
property, valuing 4 million, will be debt free by November 2006.
When the Cornerstone campus is fully developed, it will consist of the present
facility along with a new 1,000 seat auditorium and a sports complex consisting
of the following: softball & soccer fields, skate board and children's
park, picnic shelter and walking track.
Our Priorities
At Cornerstone there are three enemies which we are called to
defeat:
Religion: The belief that you must have a fixed form of
worship that transpires each service, with no room for change. Cornerstone will
be an ever changing, obedient body, with much variety in each service.
2 Timothy 3:5
Poverty: God wants His people to prosper by sowing
offerings, as well as obediently bringing the tithe to the storehouse.
Deuteronomy 8:18
Racism: Racism is not of God. We, at Cornerstone, will never tolerate a
spirit of racism to be in our church. We are victorious over the spirit of
racism. We have people of all races that have joined the vision of Cornerstone
and worship with us on a weekly basis.
